Victoria’s Inner Harbour is worth a first stop on its own — the Parliament Buildings lit up at night, Chinatown a short walk away, and Beacon Hill Park for a picnic before you head out. Butchart Gardens, about 20 minutes north, is one of the most celebrated botanical gardens in North America — 55 acres and over a million visitors a year, built in a former limestone quarry, with separate Sunken, Japanese, Rose and Italian gardens. The Royal BC Museum covers the province’s natural and human history in depth, and Fisherman’s Wharf‘s floating houseboats and seafood stalls make a good stop for provisioning the RV before you leave the city.

RV rental Victoria — FAQs
Where can I pick up an RV near Victoria?
Owners list vehicles across Victoria and into the wider Vancouver Island region. A 20–35 mile radius in the search shows the full choice.
Can I watch the Goldstream salmon run if I rent an RV in Victoria?
Yes. Goldstream Provincial Park is 16 km north-west of Victoria, and the salmon return from late October through November, with chum, coho and Chinook in the river. The park is open all year with vehicle-accessible camping, though there is no sani-station in winter. Book through BC Parks, and expect to share the site with plenty of visitors in peak weeks.
Are winter tyres needed on the Malahat near Victoria?
BC's winter tyre rules name the Malahat as a route where winter tyres are required, while most other coastal roads aren't. The season runs from 1 October to 31 March on some routes and to 30 April on others, so check the signs and DriveBC. Most Vancouver Island RV trips run May to October, but shoulder-season travel needs a check.
