In most parts of the United States, a standard license is sufficient to rent an RV under 26,000 pounds. However, you must be over 25, have had your license of over 12 months, and your license must be in the Latin alphabet, such as English or Spanish. However, requirements can change between states.
Wherever you travel, you should consider the local driving requirements and find a smaller rental if necessary.
Diesel Vs. Gas
Motorhome rentals will either come with a gas or a diesel engine. The main difference for your rental experience is that diesel RVs have more towing capacity and tend to be more stable and smooth to drive. Diesel engines are also at the back, which makes less noise, while the generator is upfront so that it is not too close to where you sleep.
The choice is yours! If you plan on driving long distances, then a diesel engine might be best. Otherwise, gas engines might save you money and are often easier to fix if something goes wrong.
