RV Rentals in Canada
Quebec pairs two genuinely different French-speaking cities — Montreal and Quebec City — with the Charlevoix coast and the Gaspé Peninsula’s dramatic, far-flung scenery. Enter your postcode on the search page, set a collection radius, and you’ll see insured RVs, motorhomes and camper vans from owners and operators across Quebec.

Every vehicle is listed by its owner — private owners and local rental businesses — and booked through our partner Outdoorsy, with insurance and payment protection on every booking.

RV, Motorhome and Camper Van Rental Across Quebec

Owners list everything from compact camper vans and Class B RVs to full-size Class A and C motorhomes. A camper van is the easier choice for Old Montreal and Old Quebec’s narrow, historic streets; a larger motorhome is comfortable on Highway 20 and the routes out toward Charlevoix and the Gaspé. See RV rental, motorhome hire and camper van hire for more on picking a size.

Best RV road trips in Quebec

  • Charlevoix — about 1.5 hours from Quebec City via Route 362, a scenic 50 km stretch along the St. Lawrence. Clifftop villages, whale watching further downriver at Tadoussac, 3–5 days.
  • The Gaspé Peninsula — about 6 hours from Quebec City or 8–9 hours from Montreal. Percé Rock, Forillon National Park and some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in eastern Canada; allow 7–10 days given the distance.
  • The Laurentians — about an hour north of Montreal. Lakes and mountains, an easy short trip or a stop on the way further north.
  • Old Quebec and Old Montreal — right in each city, best explored on foot once the RV is parked at a campground rather than driven into the historic core.

Driving and camping in Quebec

Road signs and most rural services are in French; a translation app or basic French phrases help outside the main tourist areas, especially in the Gaspé and Charlevoix. Winter brings genuine snow and cold across the whole province, so the practical RV season runs roughly May through October. Old Montreal and Old Quebec both have narrow, cobbled historic streets unsuited to anything RV-sized — plan on a campground outside the core and public transit or a short drive in.

When to travel

June to September is the main season, with July and August busiest and most expensive, especially around Quebec City’s summer festivals. September brings good fall colour, particularly in the Laurentians and Charlevoix, with noticeably quieter roads than summer.

RV rental Quebec — FAQs

Can I drive an RV into Old Montreal or Old Quebec?

It’s legal but impractical — both historic cores have narrow, cobbled streets poorly suited to anything RV-sized. Most visitors base at a nearby campground and explore on foot or by public transit.

Where can I pick up an RV in Quebec?

Owners list vehicles across Montreal and Quebec City, the province’s two main cities.

Do I need winter tyres on a rental motorhome in Quebec?

Quebec requires winter tyres from 1 December to 15 March on most vehicles registered in the province, but the rule exempts motorhomes and vehicles registered outside Quebec. Most RV trips run from May to October anyway. If you travel in late autumn or early spring, expect snow and ice on the roads regardless, and confirm the exemption with the owner. See Quebec's winter tyre rules.

Is the Tadoussac ferry free for RVs, and how long is the wait?

The Baie-Sainte-Catherine to Tadoussac ferry on Route 138 is free for vehicles, runs around the clock and takes about 10 minutes. There are no reservations. From mid-July to late August the queue can top an hour at peak times, so cross early or late in the day and allow for it when you plan a Charlevoix and Saguenay trip.

Can I book an RV site at Forillon National Park on the Gaspé Peninsula?

Yes. Forillon has three main campgrounds: Petit-Gaspé and Des-Rosiers both have sites with electricity, while Cap-Bon-Ami is tent-only. Parks Canada bookings typically open in mid-January, and the season runs from late May or early June to mid-October. With the park so far from Quebec City, build the trip around several overnight stops. See Parks Canada: frontcountry camping.
