Driving around Lethbridge

Southern Alberta is genuinely windy — the coulees and open prairie around Lethbridge see some of the strongest sustained winds in the province, worth bracing for in a tall-sided motorhome, especially crossing the High Level Bridge area or driving open highway stretches. The route to Waterton climbs into foothills and can see summer thunderstorms roll in quickly; check the forecast before setting out.

When to travel

June to September is the main season, with Waterton at its best from July through early September. Spring can still be windy and cool; fall brings quieter roads and fewer crowds at Waterton before facilities scale back for winter.
