Campervanhire.com helps you compare campervans, motorhomes and RVs listed by private owners and local hire businesses in the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, and book them through our partner Outdoorsy. The site is UK-based and has been run by Malcolm Maybury since 2010.
Who runs Campervanhire.com
Malcolm started the site in 2010 for a simple reason: campervan holidays are one of the best ways to travel on a sensible budget, and finding a good van, and the rules that come with it, was harder than it should have been. He has travelled by campervan in the UK and abroad, and has owned his own campervan, so he knows first-hand what makes a hire go smoothly and what catches people out.
Campervanhire.com is run by Malcolm as a sole trader. He is responsible for what the site publishes and for how it handles your data, which is set out in our privacy policy.
How the site works
- We don't own or rent out vehicles. Every van, motorhome and RV you find through our search is listed by its owner, either a private owner or a local hire business, on Outdoorsy.
- You book through our partner Outdoorsy. Payment, the booking itself and booking support are handled by Outdoorsy. Insurance and payment protection come with every booking. 24/7 roadside assistance is an optional extra you can choose when you book.
- The owner sets the details. Prices, mileage allowances, deposits, pet rules and what is included are set by each owner and shown on the listing, so check it before you pay.
- Who to ask. Questions about a booking go to Outdoorsy or the owner. Questions about this site, or about something in one of our guides, come to us.
How we make money
Campervanhire.com is an Outdoorsy partner. If you book or list a vehicle through our search or links, we may earn a commission from Outdoorsy. It costs you nothing extra and doesn't change the price you pay. We don't charge travellers anything to use the site.
The commission is what pays for the research behind the guides. Our aim is for every guide to be useful whoever you end up booking with, so they cover the rules, real costs and trade-offs, not just the reasons to book.
How our guides are researched and checked
Each guide goes through the same steps before it is published or updated:
- What people need to know. We look at what travellers search for on the topic and what the existing pages leave out, and build the guide to answer those questions properly.
- Primary sources for the facts. Licence and towing rules are checked against GOV.UK, park road limits against the national park services, vehicle details against the manufacturers' own pages, and booking policies against Outdoorsy's help centre. Where a rule varies, for example by US state, we say so instead of guessing.
- Honest price ranges. Prices come from current marketplace data and published price indexes, and we use the same ranges across the site. Real listings vary, so we give ranges, not promises.
- An independent fact-check. We use AI tools to help research and draft guides. Every guide is then fact-checked separately against those sources, and anything that can't be confirmed is softened or taken out.
- Edited and signed off by Malcolm. Malcolm edits each guide and approves it before it goes live. Every guide shows the date it was last updated.
