Hiring A Campervan
While there are many reasons why people decide to campervan for the first time, one of the common reasons mentioned to Campervanhire.com by our new customers is the search for an inexpensive holiday with a little more luxury. Although our partnership with Outdoorsy means that we offer a broad and extensive variety of campervans, for their first campervan experience, many people choose to hire a vehicle which in some instances may mean that there is no inbuilt shower.
The good news is that a lack of a built-in shower need not be an issue; with a little innovative thinking, there are plenty of alternatives to ensure you remain clean, hygienic, and refreshed on your trip. This article aims to give you some inspiration and food for thought as well as enhance your first-ever campervan trip.
A Motorway Service Station
Depending on where you have set off on your travels, you may be able to visit a motorway services station. Many of these have shower facilities, providing you with a quick and easy solution to this problem. Alternatively, if your trip is to a more remote area, where motorway service stations are not an option, you can always wash most of your body in a public toilet. If you are flexible, you may even be able to wash your hair and or feet in the sink!!
Visit A Local Swimming Pool or Gym
Another innovative and cost-effective solution to the shower issue involves a visit to a local swimming pool. If you have children, they will see this as a fun activity while at the same time providing you with an easy way for the entire family to get a shower and feel refreshed without wasting your hard-earned budget.
There are over 136 Youth Hostels dotted around the country, and due to their very nature, they are often located in the country’s more remote areas. A cheeky request to borrow their shower and washing facilities is often well received, so do some research into the areas where you are going to see if you can find your nearest youth hostel.
Perhaps the most obvious of them all, just because you have a mobile campervan, there is no reason why you cannot book a night in a caravan park. These are normally very cost-effective, and of course come complete with all the facilities you could ever need, including showers, and in some cases swimming pools and entertainment complexes, all of which would be included in the cost of staying for the night.
Alternatively, and while there are many options outlined above, the final alternative is to invest just a little more on your vacation, and hire a campervan with a shower installed. Although this may only be a few pounds a day more, it is hard to express just how much this little sprinkling of luxury can enhance your holidays. Take your time to conduct your research on the site, and you may just decide that a shower is worth the additional expenditure, as with everything campervan related the choice is entirely up to you.
Everyone at Campervanhire.com is passionate about travelling across the country in their Campervan, but even we are partial to the occasional taste of luxury, and we certainly want to be clean, which is why we have used our knowledge and expertise to put this list together.
Bear in mind that this list is by no means definitive, and it may well be that you come up with other ideas that we haven’t even considered. That, in part, is one of the many benefits of hiring a campervan; there are no rules and no formality, and your only focus needs to be on enjoying yourself and making lifetime memories.
